TN3270E Working Group announces: a BOF and Technology demonstration at INTEROP. There will be a TN3287 IBM printing technology demo by several vendors during the INTEROP show August 25 - 27 in San Francisco. The demonstration will show implementations of the TN3270E working groups draft on TN3287 printing and LUNAME selections. Vendors demonstrating interoperable implementations of the draft will include WRQ, DCA, ACS, and OCS. The draft which is planned to be submitted as an Experimental RFC shortly after INTEROP provides the capability to make TN3270 emulators capable of connecting directly to specific IBM host Resource Names typically called LUNAMES. The document also includes protocols to make it possible for TN3270 emulators to attach as Printers to IBM host applications. This technology demonstration will allow users of IBM host systems which need 3270 printing support to be implemented on TCP/IP networks which will make it possible for workstations running TN3270 Client Emulators to also attach as printers at the same time, making possible direct CICS and JES printing solutions, to local or remote workstation printing devices. The TN3270E working group is also preparing documents on the present TN3270 practices, and a new document which will significantly extend the capabilities of TN3270 into the capabilites of SNA. All of the activities will be reviewed during a BOF at INTEROP 7:30 Thursday evening. Robert Moskowitz Chrysler Corporation TN3270E Working Group Chair
