[Tigress] Interim on 01/25

Greetings TIGRESS WG,


We've been away for a while, but now it's time to re-engage. Let's catch up
on developments since 118. Following the poll in Prague, it became evident
that the WG is inclined to focus on developing a protocol with the
assumption of a secure invitation channel. Additionally, there was a
consensus on the need for orthogonal work to enhance the security features
of the invitation channel(may or may not be in TIGRESS). Some members also
expressed that orthogonal work may not be feasible or tricky to achieve.
Subsequent to this, extensive discussions have taken place both on the
mailing list and outside, delving into the definition of a secure channel
and the scope outlined in the WG charter.


We are holding an interim this Thursday 2024-01-25 18:00-19:00 UTC. Instead
of traditional presentations, we want to start with a poll this time to
pick a solution to pursue. Thanks to the authors for publishing updated
drafts. We currently have two proposed solutions [1],[2] and we strongly
urge y’all to review them before the meeting, ensuring you're prepared to
participate in the poll. There is also an open PR [3] from Brad clarifying
the security considerations.

Once we have a consensus on a solution to pursue, we would like to talk
about the next steps and open questions. There may be a small presentation
from authors to answer some open questions.
