I agree with this sentiment. I hope our RFC 9945 folks make a policy to redirect discussion to a public non-WG moderation list when something like this happens, and WG chairs do so as well. This has benefits for the WG list, and it makes the moderator actions centralized in one place (it will be obvious if they are overzealous, and it handles someone making trouble in many WGs).
