Rich, Keep in mind, draft-gutmann-tls-lts is under consideration as an independent submission right now. If it's not the intent of the IETF to create a conflict with regard to that draft, then my suggestion is a statement in Section 1 along the following lines: “The policy specified in this section applies to other RFC streams only in so far as they require new code points.” In the alternative,**the ISE's intent would be to take all IETF statements under advisement, and of course to see to it that all IANA policies are followed. Please note: nothing above should be construed as an endorsement or the intent of the independent submissions editor to publish draft-gutmann-tls-lts in its current form. Eliot -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Last Call: <draft-ietf-tls-tls12-frozen-05.txt> (TLS 1.2 is in Feature Freeze) to Informational RFC Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2024 09:12:57 -0800 From: The IESG <iesg-secretary@ietf.org> Reply-To: last-call@ietf.org To: IETF-Announce <ietf-announce@ietf.org> CC: draft-ietf-tls-tls12-frozen@ietf.org, paul.wouters@aiven.io, tls-chairs@ietf.org, tls@ietf.org The IESG has received a request from the Transport Layer Security WG (tls) to consider the following document: - 'TLS 1.2 is in Feature Freeze' <draft-ietf-tls-tls12-frozen-05.txt> as Informational RFC The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the last-call@ietf.org mailing lists by 2025-01-13. Exceptionally, comments may be sent to iesg@ietf.org instead. In either case, please retain the beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting. Abstract Use of TLS 1.3 is growing and fixes some known deficiencies in TLS 1.2. This document specifies that outside of urgent security fixes, new TLS Exporter Labels, or new Application-Layer Protocol Negotiation (ALPN) Protocol IDs, no changes will be approved for TLS 1.2. This prescription does not pertain to DTLS (in any DTLS version); it pertains to TLS only. The file can be obtained via https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-tls-tls12-frozen/ No IPR declarations have been submitted directly on this I-D. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- ietf-announce@ietf.org To unsubscribe send an email to ietf-announce-leave@ietf.org
