Rich,

Let me generalize a bit...  It would be useful for several
reasons for Meetecho to make a clear distinction between "on
site" (or "in room" if that is better) and "remote".  That would
allow jiggling some settings (including the one you have
commented on) and would give more information to other
participants and even WG chairs about who is likely to come
charging to the mic and who is more or less far away.
