This draft addresses a lot of questions, concerns and issues,  that enterprises and other large organizations will face when deploying IPv6.     The value of this information is even greater  because most  of us would be unaware of many of these issues, and certainly would not be informed to this level of detail and depth.   And we would be  completely without knowledge of how to deal with these questions, concerns and issues.
Some of these areas will be important, impactful, and even severe.   Many  would even be show stoppers for large IPv6 deployments,
As such, the information contained in this draft can allow such initiatives to be successful, rather than risking delay or even failure.   Enterprises are looking for reasons NOT to deploy IPv6 and this draft addresses many of those reasons.
The information in this draft is hence, beyond useful and could even be considered critical success factors.    I thank the authors for their great work, depth, detail and value they have provided!

The level of detail and depth this Draft provides is most informative with regards to both problem description/detail,  as well as corresponding solutions.     Perhaps more importantly  this information is organized and presented in a way that is understandable and usable, to even readers not completely familiar with all the related issues and details.     As such, it should provide immediate value to any network professionals who have the opportunity to review it and utilize the information it provides.

And on top of that, the manifold solutions covered in the draft are compared and contrasted, across differing use cases and deployment scenarios.
The level of depth and detail on the manifold solutions is very impressive, comprehensive and would be very valuable and time efficient, for any organization dealing with related issues.
Organizations deploying IPv6, especially at larger scales,  will greatly appreciate what the authors have put together in this draft!

Providing references to other NDP documents  and other sources of relevant information, is also valuable, especially for those newer to IPv6.
The level of operational detail and real world considerations is perhaps as good as any draft I have ever read   This draft tackles the tough operational and performance issues relative to NDP,  from very real perspectives.    This will be very valuable to network operators, if/when they are faced with any of these issues, which is very highly likely.      As an enterprise network operator, I feel that many of my situations and concerns are captured in this draft!   I sincerely hope more such documents can be created!

I am curious as to how much testing or even deployment has been done with any of the solutions analyzed?    A lot of the information seems to be the result of actual experiences and real network conditions.     Most of the  solutions would seem to be disruptive to an operational network, due to the level and scope of changes required,  but there seems to be a great deal of real world perspective in this draft and all statements in the draft are accurate and consistent with networks I work on and/or with.

One question or concern I have is that it seems most (or maybe all), of the solutions are changes/additions that the network operator would need to make, AFTER initial deployment of IPv6.   And these "Reactions" will require significant time and/or expense.      How many of the solutions could be addressed by IETF and included in the base IPv6 protocols?

It is obvious how much time, energy and expertise have gone into this draft.    Thanks to all for the great work!

The following changes have been made in draft-ietf-v6ops-nd-considerations to address our AD Warren's comments.  Because the changes are relatively big, we decide to redo the WGLC.  It starts today and will end on Sept 12.  Please review and comment.  Thank you very much.



1.                 Changed the title to "Neighbor Discovery Considerations in IPv6 Deployments".

2.                 Moved the issue-solution Table from the end of Section 3 to the beginning of Section 3.  This way, the table immediately follows the summary of issues at the end of Section 2, and readers can quickly find out what mitigation solutions are available for which issues.

3.                 Significantly simplified Section 4 by removing the detailed procedures for selecting an isolation method, keeping only the applicability analysis and a simple guideline.

4.                 Modified the Abstract, Introduction and Terminology sections to match the new changes.
