In brief: Portland would be a fine place for an IETF meeting.

I have attended multiple meetings in Portland, including one even larger
than an IETF meeting. It's a pleasant city to visit, and the Hilton in
particular is a good meeting venue.

I was unsurprised that the venue assessment report was green on almost all
fronts. On the two grey points: While Portland experienced some political
unrest during the 2020 George Floyd protests, it is generally safe and
stable. Portland generally has an open and welcoming culture, regardless
of the factors listed in 6.1.

The IETF Administration LLC is seeking community input on the city of
Portland, Oregon, USA, which it is considering as a future meeting venue.

In line with our venue selection process we present the assessment report
for this city [1] and community input is now sought on this assessment
report.

To provide input, please email venue-selection@ietf.org with the name of
the city in the subject line. This is a publicly visible one-way e-mail
address: You can read the input [2], but you cannot subscribe to it.
Additionally, all feedback is collated and published on a public board [3]
listed by city.

General discussion on meeting venues should be on the mailing list
mtgvenue@ietf.org.

This call for input closes on 7 October 2024.

Finally, details of the selection process [4] and completed and outstanding
location assessments [5] are on our website.
