Hi all,

I’m forwarding the call for talks for the Pecha Kucha. If you think this list is not appropriate, please let me know. Otherwise, I believe you all are very well qualified to give a Pecha Kucha and we urgently look for talks!

If you eventually plan for a talk, please give Kyle a heads-up! That would be very helpful!

If you don’t plan for a talk, please find someone else to arm-twist to give a talk!

Thanks for your help!

See you all soon one way or the other!
Mirja

P.S.: It turn out you don’t have to be funny to give a pecha kucha, however, if you believe you are funny in any way, I really recommend to give one!

Call for participation: Bad Attitude Pecha Kucha @ IETF 119
Time: Wednesday, March 20 at 10 pm Brisbane time
Location: TBD

Come share your favorite stories, rants, or calls to action with your IETF colleagues. If you have a topic about which you are passionate, you can give a Pecha Kucha.

What is a Pecha Kucha, you ask? A Pecha Kucha is a lightning-talk presentation format, originating in Japan, where a speaker presents 20 image-only slides that are each on the screen for 20 seconds and advance automatically. With each talk lasting for 6:40, it has the feature of forcing presentations -- good or bad -- to be focused and brief.

This is an unofficial event. Topics are encouraged to be IETF-related and satirical or controversial in some way, although not mean-spirited. Anyone can participate in this social event.

Format Details:

* Jen Linkova will be your emcee at Brisbane's PK!

* Presentation slots are open to all, assigned first-come, first-served.

* To reserve a presentation slot, send a name and title to Kyle at krose@krose.org<mailto:krose@krose.org> and/or to Jen at furry13@gmail.com<mailto:furry13@gmail.com> and receive confirmation.

* Presenters have two choices for talk format:

    - You may adhere to the traditional Pecha Kucha format (20 slides, primarily image-only, automatically advancing every 20 seconds). Try to avoid animations as they may interfere with the 20 second auto-advance.

    - You may alternatively use your 6m 40s slot to give a presentation in some other format, but you will be strictly limited to 400 seconds, after which the Lars Eggert rule will come into force. We should be able to provide you with direct control over slide advancement via wireless remote.

* We must receive your final slide deck no later than the start of the Plenary on Wednesday (i.e., by 5pm local time). Earlier is better. The day before would be *great*. The later you send your deck, the more important it is that you send it to Jen at furry13@gmail.com<mailto:furry13@gmail.com> since the plenary starts at 3 am US Eastern time. Decks sent after the plenary starts are processed on a best effort basis and Jen MAY replace them with random images of kittens, puppies, and baby koalas.

* Please provide slides as a PDF. Given the constraints of the room projector setup, I cannot guarantee you will be able to hook up your own laptop, so please design your deck to be presentable via a PDF viewer. Since it should be static images in most cases, this should be easy!

* There are lots of online tutorials and suggestions for how to make a good Pecha Kucha. Here are some links:

* This is an in-person event only: while talks will likely be recorded, they will not be live-streamed and there will be no remote participation.

We hope to see you there!
