IETF 108 Online is right around the corner and we are looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow at our first virtual Quick Connections event! Reminder: this one-hour session takes place tomorrow 23 July at 15:00 UTC (8:00 PST, 11:00 EST, 17:00 CET, 00:00 JST).

Quick Connections is designed to facilitate introductions and short conversations between newcomers and experienced IETFers. You will be divided into small groups for brief conversations. Pre-registration is required but you can still sign up here: https://forms.gle/XRqmP98AaBmRR4ep7.

For those of you who’ve already signed up for Quick Connections, here’s a bit more information on how it’s going to work. We will use Gather.town [1] and the link to join the IETF 108 Online Gather space is https://ietf.gather.town/z6N2SDxHebMdDAfo/IETF-108. We’ve prepared some guidelines [2] for how to use Gather, and we encourage you to review them prior to joining.

You will “spawn” in the lobby of the IETF 108 Online Gather space. Please navigate to the Newcomers Cafe, where you will find nine virtual tables, and an experienced IETF guide waiting at each table to speak with you. Navigate to a table with no more than 3 other participants. You will chat with your IETF Guide for approximately 15 min, at which point you will be instructed -- via the room chat feature -- to move to a new virtual table, where you will have the opportunity to meet another IETF guide.

Best,
Alexa Morris
Managing Director, IETF Secretariat
