The tax can be avoided by: - the buyer being in a state where the seller is not incorporated (e.g., over the Internet, phone, mail) - buying in a state with no sales tax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States Otherwise, the consumer - regardless of where they reside - is intended to pay sales tax. I.e., if you have something shipped outside the US, you might avoid tax, but not if you receive it in person there. Whether you pay such tax, and how much sometimes, depends on what you purchase. Joe
