Enrique,

Correction to what I sent you earlier.

I pointed you at draft-schrock-ep-bounded-capability-receipts Section 7 for the per-component reporting distinction. The prose there is sound and it is the part I meant. The result vocabulary is not settled. Iman Schrock, the author, has said the published version still uses INDETERMINATE for both a missing comparison relation and a profile the verifier does not hold, and that the named UNDECIDED reason codes and the LOCAL_ONLY composition status are still being aligned. Do not treat the published token names as final.

The distinction itself stands and is the thing worth taking. Two different situations must not share one signal, because a relying party acts differently on each: no comparison relation exists between these scopes, and this verifier cannot decide with the inputs it holds.

There is something almost useful in the timing. The draft that specifies the distinction currently collapses it in its own vocabulary.
