A note about this media type template update request:

Ned Freed, media type reviewer and RFC 6838 author, actually asked that this line be removed from all published media type templates.

The reasoning: many standards-tree media type requests are submitted directly to IANA by representatives of standards organizations. The "provisional registration?" field is used to tell us whether a request submitted directly to us is intended for temporary registration at https://www.iana.org/assignments/provisional-standard-media-types (in which case we publish the name of the type but not the template; IETF documents rarely do this, incidentally) or for permanent registration at https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types.

We've been consistent about removing this line (per Ned's instructions) from templates submitted directly to us, but not about asking authors to remove it from I-Ds.
