Hi all,

This feels sufficiently different to the "Why We Do What We Do" topic that
I decided to start a new thread.

"Why We Do What We Do" had a number of fairly high-level presentations on
*why*, but seemed a little light on the details, so I wanted to share a
presentation more on the *how*.

This was presented at the IEPG meeting at IETF109 (Virtual Bangkok), and is
Jared Mauch speaking to more of the technical side of building a community
ISP:
"So I had to start a telco… (or fiber to Jared's house)"

Jared also presented this at "NLNOG Live! September 2020": https://www.

[0]: I actually think that this version of the talk is somewhat better, but
as I chair the IEPG I am contractually obligated to list it first :-)
