I am in support of this. Trace logs will be an important enabler and facilitator e.g. troubleshooting in distributed environments. Makes a lot of sense to me.

I do have one comment regarding section 7.4.1 - retrieval via syslog. Since the core of the draft really concerns definition of what contents to log, I believe it will be beneficial to leverage existing infrastructure, e.g. RFC 5424, not introduce a parallel logging infrastructure. The various fields identified in section 5.2 can be modeled and encoded as Structured Data Elements, as defined in RFC 5424, without having to define new formats. I think this possibility should be considered and the section expanded accordingly.
