Hi,

I created a baseline draft for doing an RFC2464bis for Internet Standard. This seem to me like a good one to start working on since the other core IPv6 drafts have been submitted to the IESG.

The purpose of this draft is to establish a baseline from RFC2464. The only intended changes
are formatting (XML is slightly different from .nroff), differences between an RFC and Internet Draft, fixing a few ID Nits, and updates to the authors information. There should not be any content changes to the specification.

RFC2464 has two errata, is updated by RFC6085 "Address Mapping of IPv6 Multicast Packets on Ethernet”, and will be updated by draft-ietf-6man-default-iids-16. The latter is close to being approved by the IESG.

A diff from RFC2464 can be found at:

https://tools.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=draft-hinden-6man-rfc2464bis-00.txt

The plan is to do a small series of new versions, each addressing a single update to allow the changes to be tracked very carefully. Please review this draft to verify there are no content changes.

This is part of the project to move the core IPv6 specifications to Internet Standard.

Thanks,
Bob

> messages are transmitted on an Ethernet.

> This document replaces RFC 2464 "Transmission of IPv6 Packets over
