Dear WG and Open DT members,

Over the past several months, our efforts have been concentrated on stabilizing the base work for the MNA project (including documenting MNA use cases, requirements and framework). We are now nearing that objective as most of the MNA base work has been adopted as WG documents. The below is list of MNA WG adopted documents for reference:

  *   draft-ietf-mpls-mna-usecases-00<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-mpls-mna-usecases/>
  *   draft-ietf-mpls-mna-requirements-01<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-mpls-mna-requirements/>
  * Currently, the MNA framework draft draft-andersson-mpls-mna-fwk-04<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-andersson-mpls-mna-fwk/> is undergoing the WG adoption process

The Open DT WG Chairs discussed the progress of the MNA work in the last coordination meeting, and they agreed that it is good time now to start focusing efforts towards evaluating possible MNA solutions.

The Open DT WG Chairs are aware of multiple existing solutions/proposals (documented in IDs) that were also presented in the past in the weekly Open DT and IETF sessions. We are asking the authors of those MNA solutions documents to:

  1. Validate and update the proposals against the use cases, requirements and the framework that we have been working on.
  2. Update the documents and remove any architectural or requirement language that should either be already covered by the MNA WG documents or be considered for addition there.
  3. Consider presenting the updated solution in next sessions (e.g. IETF114 if possible).

Regards,
Tarek (as MPLS WG co-chair, for the Open DT WG chairs)
