A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the DNS Extensions Working Group of the IETF.

Title : A DNS RR for Encoding DHCP Information (DHCID RR)
	Author(s)	: M. Stapp, et al.
	Filename	: draft-ietf-dnsext-dhcid-rr-13.txt
	Pages : 12
	Date : 2006-3-23

It is possible for DHCP clients to attempt to update the same DNS
FQDN or attempt to update a DNS FQDN that has been added to the DNS
for another purpose as they obtain DHCP leases. Whether the DHCP
server or the clients themselves perform the DNS updates, conflicts
can arise. To resolve such conflicts, [1] proposes storing client
identifiers in the DNS to unambiguously associate domain names with
the DHCP clients to which they refer. This memo defines a distinct
RR type for this purpose for use by DHCP clients and servers, the
   "DHCID" RR.

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-dnsext-dhcid-rr-13.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.
