Hm, that hadn't occurred to me; I was still thinking that the info
would be carried in the message, rather than just logged locally.

Yes.  I now think the right behavior is to log this information locally
on the server (tied to the message probably by logging it alongside the
Message-ID, and don't put it into the headers at all.

And don't dump it with the main bulk of the news logs, 'cause they turn
over too fast; this data should remain accessible for "a long time"
(for some suitable definition of "long").

If nothing else, this keeps the information on only one machine (the
one that needs it) instead of taxing every news server on the net with
a copy of it.
