open issue is the one associated with this request of yours at adoption:

I've been re-reading the thread [1] trying hard to distil it into some
new text to add to the introduction [2], but I am failing.  It seems to
me that use cases and motivations are already captured -- although maybe
too succinctly? -- in the existing prose.

Therefore, I am tempted to close the issue with no action.

Let me know if your assessment differs - and if so it'd be great if you
could also provide concrete suggestions :-)
