This sentence above ^ is what should be used.  Or at least _with_ the proposed BCP sentence.  And thinking out loud here, the above sentence from Glen should be the first sentence on the IETF's website front and center https://www.ietf.org/about https://www.ietf.org/about/introduction/.   If you have to hide that sentence, then you have bigger problems.
