Focus on Reentry Services

Reentry services focus on employment-centered programs incorporating
mentoring, job training, and other comprehensive transitional services.
These services seek to reduce recidivism by helping the formerly
incarcerated find work when they return to their communities.

Faith-based and community organizations play a key role in this initiative
by providing soft skills, other basic training, mentorship, referrals to
the American Job Center, connecting with community colleges or other
providers of occupational skills training, and providing or linking to
much-needed supportive services.

WorkforceGPS’ Reentry Employment Opportunities Community offers
practitioners ideas and tools to do the invaluable work of changing lives
and renewing futures for the formerly incarcerated. Throughout the month of
July, we will be highlighting resources that provide assistance to
individuals returning to the workforce and getting back on their feet. If
you know of an example of an exemplary program or initiative providing
participants with reentry services, please email us at
