The following list summarizes the outcomes of the long list of protocol
differences that I raised. Each begins with [-1], [00] or [+1] to indicate my
own assessment of it (possibly modified since the original list). I regard the
{+1} and [00] as resolved (unless someone else want to take up one of the
[00] ones).

Of the original 44 items (numbered 1-42 because of some duplication), there
remain 18 [-1]s, some of which are the subject of continuing discussions. The
rest may well become ISSUEs in the next few days. A list of them follows:

1. [-1] (2.2) <path-identity> - Possibility to use a FQDN not resolvable
in the DNS.

2. [+1] was [00] (3.2) Russ[-1] now case-insensitive
<path-identity>s are case-sensitive.

3. [-1] (3.3.1,3.4,3.9.2) From not omittable in proto-article ISSUE

4. [-1] (3.2.2,3.4,3.8) Injection-Date can be rewritten.
<JBAvC3.9tF@clerew.man.ac.uk> Wed, 3 Jan 2007 16:04:51 GMT Re: Injection-Date and reinjection

5. [+1] was [-1] (3.3.4) Now fixed
SHOULD trim References to keep <= 998: reduced from MUST.

6. [-1] was [00] (3.4)
Injecting agents reporting rejection to user agent; was
SHOULD, now merely "encouraged".

7. [+1] (3.4) Injecting agent SHOULD have access to list of newsgroups.

8. [00] was [-1] (3.4) with revised wording (accepted)
Requirement for injecting agent to forward articles to
moderator groups reduced from MUST to SHOULD.

Prepending of <path-identity> to Path by injecting agent
reduced from MUST to SHOULD.

10. [00] (3.4) Folding of Path header when length becomes excessive
reduced from SHOULD to MAY.

11. [-1] (3.4) Recommendation that each injecting agent SHOULD use a
consistent format for Injection-Info removed.

12. [-1] (3.5) Explanatory text suggested referring to USEPRO 3.2.4
The significance of "world" and "local" in the Distribution
header are no longer mentioned.

13. [+1] (3.5,3.6) Removed possibility of "aliassing out" a site where you
didn't want an article to go by including it in the Path to the right of
POSTED.

14. [+1] (3.5) Relaying agent MUST reject articles without Newgroups or
Message-ID or (injection-Date or Date).

15. {+1} was [-1] (3.5) Relaying agent MUST reject any article already already sent
to it.

16. [-1] (3.5) under current discussion
Relaying agent SHOULD deal with cancel message (if it
chooses to honour it)

17. [00] (3.5) Relaying agents SHOULD determine verified/expected source
of article and construct <path-diagnostics> accordingly.

18. [-1] (3.5) Russ[-1] Incorrectly fixed
No provision for >1 <path-identity> per relaying agent.
<JB7JBp.EtB@clerew.man.ac.uk> Mon, 1 Jan 2007 20:52:37 GMT Re: Path header field
