Hi Mikael,

You’re right, this should be included as part of the requirements, even if we don’t go for new transition mechanisms in a RFC7084, a –bis version is needed for DS-LITE to support that.

While reading the document I’m wondering if anyone believes there is a need for a new DHCP option for 464XLAT configuration with DHCPv6. I don’t think so, because in this case, all the “info” is provided via the DNS64 responses, but I may be missing something. Anyone having a different view?

Regards,
Jordi

    Hi,

another potential mechanism to be included in 7084bis.

    https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8026

This should probably be supported by a 7084bis device. If there are
mechanisms in 7084bis not in RFC8026, that should probably be added.

Also, please do not downgrade MUST requirements in 7084 to anything less
in 7084bis. That means an ISP supporting for instance DS.lite can have
reasonable "trust" in that a 7084bis device will still support this.

We don't want to drive ISPs to support all/most mechanisms just because
the CEs don't support at least one mandatory one (and that this changed
    over time).
