Hi Rohan:CDDL is not supported. This was discussed at a workgroup meeting many IETFs ago. CBOR was rejected by the work group as was CDDL even constraining it to JSON. These were explicit questions that I asked and the workgroup answered. The CDDL remains in the repo for the I-D for historical purposes only. It is not included in the draft.
JSON schema is informationally only. I had several requests for JSON Schema definition and so I created one and added it to the core draft in Nov. The JSON Schema is informational only and will remain that way. It does not have enough eye balls or testing on it to be normative.
The text and IANA remain normative.
If you are saying that we do not need to register all of the tables or values in IANA, please articulate what should change. I have not had any comments to the effect that things should not be registered in IANA. Though this seems counter intuitive to me. The point of IANA is to eliminate ambiguous or multiple use of properties for different meanings or purpose.
I hope that this clarifies any questions on what the single source of truth is.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Chris,I can submit a new version before the meeting.
It would be helpful to have a single source of truth, or at least only 2. Currently we have IANA, CDDL, and JSON Schema. What's the plan here?I don't know of any other WG that has used IANA to such an extent. Not every object needs to be extensible via IANA. Thanks,-rohan

Hi vCon WG,
I have requested a session for the vCon WG at IETF 126 in Vienna (July 18 to 24, 2026). A quick note on where the documents stand and what we need before the meeting.
draft-ietf-vcon-vcon-core -> vcon-core
Dan, I know you are working on this and there has been list discussion. As decided at IETF 124 and discussed at the interim, the next revision needs to come up under a new name, draft-ietf-vcon-core, retiring the current series.
draft-ietf-vcon-overview
Recently refreshed at -01 and in good shape for discussion in Vienna unless there will be any other updates.
draft-ietf-vcon-privacy-primer
Recently refreshed at -01 and in good shape for discussion in Vienna. Thanks to the authors for the update.
draft-ietf-vcon-mimi-messages and draft-ietf-vcon-cc-extension
Both are expired. Rohan and Dan, please reply on list with the status of each and whether you plan to refresh before Vienna.
The I-D cutoff for IETF 126 meeting will be in early July. Please reply on list with anything else you want on the agenda.
Thanks all,
-Chris
