I don't get it. The problem isn't with the bits in the file. The problem 
is that MacOS insists on reporting that a .md file has content type 
octent-stream. IIUC, if it would simply report it as text/plain then all 
wood be ok.

Lacking a fix for that problem, can we have datatracker recognize 
.md.txt as indicating an intent to upload markdown? The tools are 
already doing a workaround by recognizing .md as markdown even though 
the actual content type being sent is text/plain.
