Remembering BMWG Chair, Al Mortan

With profound sadness, we would like to remember and mourn our beloved BMWG Chair, Al Mortan.
Although we are relatively new to IETF, particularly to the BMWG, and low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network-related benchmarking work, which we are trying to advance, is still new and uncertain for BMWG, Al welcomed us with great kindness and supported us from the very beginning of our involvement. He provided us with many constructive suggestions and guidance, for which we are deeply grateful. Just at the end of May, Al went out of his way to invite us to review other drafts, hoping to help us better understand benchmarking and participate in the BMWG.
We are honored to have had the opportunity to work with him, and we will continue to remember him with admiration and respect.
Al's kindness, friendliness, enthusiasm, diligence, and professionalism were truly remarkable, and we will miss him dearly.

Sincerely,

Qi Zhang, Zeqi Lai, Qian Wu, Yangtao Deng, Hewu Li

>BMWG,
> It?s with immense sadness that I share this news with you. Al has been such a huge part of my IETF experience. My very first meeting, he welcomed the newcomers in the room and said, ?Welcome to BMWG! We?re glad to have you. We?re the kinder, gentler working group of the IETF?. 10 years later, I sincerely hope that those of you reading this message are nodding and thinking ?yes Al, you are right!?. He brought passion and dedication to our small corner of the OPS Area, and he?ll be dearly missed. For those of you with documents in progress, bear with me a bit as I take over his documents.

As many of you know, in addition to participating in the ITU-T, Al was a longtime IETF participant and chair, and brought the IETF and ITU-T into alignment time and time again. And he was the nicest imaginable human being. I will miss him.
