STRUCTURED-DATA and SCHEMA would satisfy, I think, what I was trying to say with EVENTTYPE in my previous post.

As Ken said earlier this is a perfect use for the new Structured-Data property defined in the eventpub-extensions draft

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-calext-eventpub-extensions/

(I will try to get a new version out this week)

The benefit of this approach is that it requires no further extensions to iCalendar - your maintenance data is carried as a payload with a known schema.

You're free to define this schema in whatever way seems appropriate but it would make sense to provide some indication as to how clients should handle it.

A question: is this more like a task than an event? There is a task extensions draft

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-apthorp-ical-tasks/

currently expired but I think due to be revived. This defines an ESTIMATED-DURATION property so that the task dtstart/end defines a window within which the task should be accomplished.

Drop the "X-" in front of your property names in your draft, as when (if) this makes it to RFC status, they will be IANA registered.
