BCP 47 also cites ISO 3166-1.
We could cite BCP 47 e.g. "BCP 47 region subtag" (but it adds the 
3-digit UN M.49 code to the list of possibilities, which actually may be 
not so bad to have at it may fit some specific needs) "BCP 47 2-letter 
region subtag".
