Hi Steve,

Thanks for your good point!

The enhanced use cases of scaling networks may be a good start to understand the motivation from TSN to DetNet by clarifing the characteristics, requirements and then issues and gaps of existing technology can be analysized. The benefits from DetNet may be reflected by enhanced technologies to resolve the issues of scaling networks such as queuing mechanisms, cross-domain routing, traffic shceduling, interworking of heterogeneous sub-network technologies, end-to-end deterministic latency guarantees and so on.

And we are planning a side meeting at 118 to discuss the enhanced use cases, requirements, gap analysis and solutions considerations for the scaling deterministic networks.

https://github.com/xiongquan1230/IETF118-Sidemeeting

Welcome to join us and discuss in details. Thanks!

Best Regards,
Quan

It would also be nice to understand what would motivate an industry to switch from existing TSN approaches to DetNet.
In other words, what benefit(s) from DetNet would overcome the inertia to stick with what currently works?

Thanks,
Steve

Hello Quan

Thank you for the draft about scaling deterministic networks use cases.

I think that the draft would benefit by adding compelling reasons for each use case why the use case would be multi-domain/cross domain use case.
I do think that just listing traffic characteristics (from 3GPP) would relieve what makes the use case specific for enhanced or scaled deterministic networks.
Maybe you could consider adding such justification into the draft?

Best regards
Hannu

Hi WG,

I have just submitted a new draft to describe the enhanced use cases and network requirements for scaling deterministic networks which is mentioned at 117 meeting and they are not covered in RFC8578, such
as industrial internet, high experience Video and computing-aware applications, and analyzes the classification for the typical applications.

Welcome to review and comments to the enhanced use cases. Thanks!
Best Regards,
Quan
