aren't there three layers?

Framing Layer -- frames and their encodings
Session Layer -- stream lifecycle, flow control, shared compression context
Protocol* Layer -- request/response, pushed resources

i prefer tri-color bike sheds :)

*yes, by protocol here i mean the HTTP/1.* request/response protocol
