I thought that .onion etc are actually reserved names so there's no 
confusion with DNS.

Or did I misread your paragraph.

PS: your proposed text explains the issue, but doesn't seem clear to me 
on precise steps to mitigate it. It seems to mainly say that 
applications MUST "take into consideration" some info. That seems weak, 
because "consideration" implies a possible choice of "look at and decide 
to not do anything with it".
