Greetings Doug,

I think the best solution for Latin for me is to work with colleagues in
the Classics and make a submission to the ISO 639-3 Registrar. As I dug
further into Latin literature and Latin text processing it became clear
that there are distinct needs for identifying different varieties of Latin
for processing purposes. If there are Latinist here on the list with
recommendations I would greatly appreciate it if they directly contact me
with suggestions.

With a result in hand from the ISO 639 group I would be in a prime position
to make an informed recommendation to the IANA group.

Kind regards,
Hugh Paterson III
