Here are some things that packetbb gives us, and this is
not a complete list. (I'm ignoring packet size things, as
obviously a less efficient solution isn't going to be a
suggestion.)

- Used by OLSRv2, NHDP, DYMO, SMF. In particular if NHDP
is use by all, how do they share its information?
- Multi-message packets allowing piggybacking. In many
systems owing to other overheads, the packet size is
less important than the number of packets sent.
- Supports the OLSRv2 model of message processing and
forwarding separation, with "lazy parsing" as an option.
- Has the facilities to incorporate just about every
extension to OLSRv2 we're aware of. Some of these are
now to be standardised in OLSRv2 (variable radius
flooding for example) while others remain outside
standardisation, but are important to people. Two (of
many possible) examples - packet hop by hop or message
end to end signatures, link costs.
- OLSRv1 compatibility option in format. This is useful
  to us.
