Subject: Re: [mpls] I-D Action: draft-ietf-mpls-inband-pm-encapsulation-11.txt

Hi,

I find some texts are not clear.
1. In the introduction, paragraph 3 and 4, the use of "former" and "later" are difficult to understand. You may change another way to say.
[XM]>>> To make *the former* and *the later* more clear, some changes are proposed as below.
In paragraph 3, s/the former/the method described in this document, s/the latter/the SFL method.
In paragraph 4, s/the former/the method described in this document, s/the latter/the In-situ OAM method.

2. In section 3, you only mentions "If the edge-to-edge measurement is applied". What about the else? It sounds like, all the following text is about the edge-to-edge. Maybe, you can add something like

"Otherwise, if the T bit is 0, both transit node and egress node are the processing nodes."
[XM]>>> Note that the MPLS ingress node is also a processing node. Propose to change the text as below.
OLD
If the edge-to-edge measurement is applied, i.e., the T bit is set to 1, then only the MPLS egress node [RFC3031] is the processing node.
NEW
If the edge-to-edge measurement is applied, i.e., the T bit is set to 1, then only the MPLS egress node [RFC3031] is the processing node, otherwise all the MPLS nodes along the LSP are the processing nodes.

Cheers,
Xiao Min

Best,

Tianran

Internet-Draft draft-ietf-mpls-inband-pm-encapsulation-11.txt is now available. It is a work item of the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) WG of the IETF.

Title: Encapsulation For MPLS Performance Measurement with Alternate Marking Method
   Authors: Weiqiang Cheng

Abstract:

This document defines the encapsulation for MPLS performance
measurement with alternate marking method, which performs flow-based
packet loss, delay, and jitter measurements on MPLS live traffic.
