There are virtually no cheap longhaul flights to Australia. I say
this, as a longterm resident of Brisbane, experiencing the massive
rise in post covid costs to get in, and out of the place. I do not
personally believe the few weeks, months that people could have known
as a pre-announce would alter their price exposure, because currently
a functional duopoly is controlling the floor price into and out of my
country.

It is possible because y'all buying outside, with the asymmetry in the
pricing model you see things differently.

Basically, I don't think a pre announce would have altered things
much. Brisbane is just expensive to get to.
