See the second part of my reply.  You will always get complaints, a
digital signature is just one of many.  Strange but widely used software
is doing with mail whatever they feel cool at the moment; ignoring all
standards and worse all de-facto standards.  Don't put too much energy
into working around that it will make the mail ecosystem only worse.
