Hi,

Maybe Jen or Lorenzo (added in) might like to also comment on the discussion from IETF124 of the potential for a 6724-bis-bis (yep!) based on issues being raised in the happy WG, or catching 6724-bis and adding wording there.

At that time we guessed snap might hold 6724-bis up for a few months, so there would be time to suggest such additions, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything concrete put forward, yet.

I think the 6724-bis authors would be happy (sic) to see the draft finally published, but having waited so long, another couple of weeks until things perhaps are clearer after the IETF125 sessions seems no biggie.

From my perspective, I see two ways to move forward:

Revise draft-ietf-6man-rfc6724-update to remove considerations about the "SNAC flag" in Router Advertisements
  2.
Remove the normative references to the DNSSD SRP documents in section 5.5.1 of draft-ietf-snac-simple *and* initiate the WGLC

Way 1) is tricky as draft-ietf-6man-rfc6724-update is already in the RFC Editor queue and would be really sad as this is a unique opportunity to have SNAC routers influencing RFC 6724. Therefore, way 2) seems better at the expense of making section 5.5.1 "discoverability by hosts on AIL" vague, or "out of scope", or just citing SRP as an example.

Both ways are far from perfect, but they will unblock draft-ietf-6man-rfc6724-update. There may be other ways, and I am willing to listen to other solutions.

From my AD perspective, I hope that authors and WG will decide just after IETF-125.

You are both correct.

We (the chairs) will initiate the last call once the authors signal the last major issues are resolved and the chairs will note the minor issues as we enter wglc as an input to last call completion.

We are close.

Thanks for the update. Indeed, I remembered that you would be busy after IETF-124, but did not remember until when ;-)

If you manage to close all the issues this week, then I will suggest to the SNAC chairs to start the WGLC while you are "away" as the WGLC duration will match your "away from keyboard" duration. But this is up to the chairs to initiate the WGLC of course in agreement with the authors & WG.

I remember telling you we had a bunch of work to complete that I probably couldn’t do until, coincidentally, this week. This week I should have time to close the remaining issues. I will then be on vacation for three weeks (one week of Dutch language boot camp in January). So if there is a wglc, I think it would make more sense to start it after I get back. I’m sorry that’s not the timeline you were hoping for but hopefully it will still work.

At IETF-124 there was a great hope and expectation that draft-ietf-snac-simple would have go through the WGLC before end of 2025. It is obviously not yet the case.

It is not only about the SNAC WG but also in another WG: 6MAN where two drafts are waiting for snap-simple as it is a normative reference, see the RFC editor cluster C525 [1]

The last email about snap-simple is dated 21st of November, nearly 1 month ago, i.e., it seems that there are no open hard issues anymore: "Perfect is the enemy of good"

And being so late in the year with many of us taking some days off, the WGLC would at least extend more than the usual 3 weeks, i.e., ending in January.

How far are we from asking the WGLC ?
