e.g. LSDB for OSPF.
the protocol information bases are the set of (internal) information 
used by the protocols for their functioning -by contrast to the external 
information bases/sources that can be used to improve/augment their 
capabilities e.g. using traffic measurements (TE routing)...
This latter part on external information was "dropped" from the charter 
text but was useful to explain the "levels" of autonomic functions.
