Hi Adrian, 

I like CAN because it reminds me "La Coupe d'Afrique des nations (CAN)") :-)

SAN is not better, IMO.

With "Computing Aware Networking", there are other choices: 
* COMET 
* COTA  ==> pronounce quota, to insist on the importance of status to steer
* CAWA  ==> coffee in Swahili or Arabic.
* COMPTINE ==> nursery rhyme in English
