Hello IPPM,

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on these documents. Your time and consideration are much appreciated.

Two things are clear from the feedback, in the chairs’ perspective:
- There was a lot of interest expressed on the list for ensuring that work is done to support the work in SPRING
- There are relevant concerns being raised about the manner in which these documents propose extending TWAMP Light and STAMP, particularly with regards to duplicating existing capabilities in ways that choose to optimize differently

Given that, we do not believe that the drafts in their current form are ready to be adopted by IPPM. We still believe that it is correct for the work in SPRING to reference IPPM work rather than define extensions to these protocols there, but the specifics of the work in IPPM needs to be further refined.

We’ll discuss further steps with the authors of the document.

Thanks again to all, for working together to come to the best unified solutions.

Best,
Tommy & Ian

Since those documents ended up making extensions to the base protocols, the chairs of SPRING and IPPM decided that it would be best to split the documents and track the IPPM extension work in the IPPM WG.
