I would like to see this work adopted. However, the current document
appears to be a difference update to RFC7084, which I think is going to be
really confusing for anyone reading it, so I think this should just be a
7084bis, not a separate document that "updates" 7084. Also, I would really
like to see the "hierarchical topology" text removed before this is
adopted. With the text as currently written, we're going to have issues
since the only way to tell you aren't an edge router is to do a delegation
request and get back a /64, at which point you can try to get more
delegations if you need them. The hierarchical model doesn't really
differentiate between edge routers and internal routers, and as a result
there's no way to allocate address space according to need. We also need to
say how delegating relays set up routes, since without text about that a
second-layer internal router won't actually be reachable.
