The MHSMD Registration fee charged by ANSI in c=us for an MD name,
which may be used as an ADMD in c=US, or as a PRMD in c=US; A=<space>
is $1500, for a permanent registration.

It is permanent because it also autorized the name to be used as the
root of the <root>+construction rule for subauthorities which can
register PRMD names for use in c=US; A=<space> for any fee they wish.

The popularity of the <root>+<anystring> is not high, but it does
provide a low cost esacpe fro those who find it acceptable.

Fees for PRMD Nmaes Registration by the separate ADMD Service
Providers is a private matter between the ADMD operator and the
customer. I do not know of any data on these ADMD/PRMD registration
costs. But, I would bet they are ZERO in most all cases, for
marketing reasons. Just another cost of doing business as an ADMD.

The c=US; A=IMX proposal for an IANA PRMD name register does not
anticipate any charge for a permanent, but retractable, PRMD name.
The A=IMX RFC cannot take any postion on whether the IANA will or will
not ever charge anything for its registration services.

IANA PRMD registration costs are low because it simply uses the
Internet information broadcasting facilities to advertise
registrations, and publish registered names, and these facilities are
marginally cheap because the tools and facilities are already much
more heavily used for other functional purposes.

Whether things will stay as trhey are with the IANA is a matter of
long term speculation.

I hope this is helpful all around...\Stef
