I think this is an interesting idea... multicast forwarding in mesh
networks has always been a pain, especially in heterogeneous networks.
I don't think I have ever seen a proposal that could work well enough
and there is also the problem that the Linux kernel multicast
forwarding capability is not that useful for mesh networks.
