Of course, each NomCom is free to self-organise.

 

But…

“We reject: kings, presidents and voting.”

It’s sad how quickly we move to secret ballots and threshold votes. This loses the opportunity for open discussion and understanding of issues. Obviously, there is a trade-off with lack of trust in confidentiality, and with all manner of pressures that can be put on individuals.

The only difference in methods is one produces 10 volunteers and the other produces 9. Seems to me odd vs even matters a lot in tie breaking decisions. 

 

I think you mean 11. :)

 

For the past few years, the NomCom has decided that appointments require 75%.  I said “few” because I don’t have visibility beyond the year before mine.  I used the previous year’s slides as a template, Martin used mine, and so on.  (Voting on the process rules is one of the first things NomCom does.)
