We have discussed diversity and done various things to try and improve
these. This is one such proposal to improve this.

Your proposal to instead do more discussing won't change anything right
now. This proposal is a stop gap meassure to achieve the bare minimum.

As it applies equally to all genders, it is sufficiently future proof
that there is no reason to wait with this proposal until "we" are
done "discussing how to fix that".
