 - non-impact on pure HTTP server processing (primarily as performance). 
Adding WebSockets support shouldn't harm the non-websocket HTTP processing.

 - compatibility with existing configuration, management, security 
policy, access logging frameworks on the server/proxy end (minimal 
admin/management impacts, and not requiring an entire new management model)

If WebSockets is a separate port, the 2nd point can be modified or weakened.
