Hi there,

I think this is a meaningful thread,
that absolutely needs further discussions before a declaration of
consensus one way or the other!

we have Monday March 14th as deadline for draft to be considered at
IETF80 meeting in Prague ( http://www.ietf.org/meeting/80/index.html ).
Ian Fette (who btw is in Japan) is working on a 07 version of the draft,
not sure (due to the situation in Japan) if he will be able to meet the
deadline;
in the case he will, 07 won't include any changes related to the masking
issue.

To be clear and avoid misunderstanding: 07 will be just one more step
but not the final candidate version...
things can (will) still change on the issues we know do not have reached
consensus (e.g. whether to mask the framing or not),
but changes can also come from possible feedback from implementation and
operational experience.

as next steps I would suggest:

-it would be worth to discuss the issue during our 2hours f2f meeting in
Prague.
if any of the people in favor (or opposing) of 'Masking only Payload' is
planning to attend the meeting, I will be happy to give him a slot
to present/discuss the issue. (please contact me if you want the slot)
Note1: there is the possibility to attend the meeting remotely (via
audio streaming and jabber; or we can setup some collaboration tool for it),
but to have a good discussion we need at least one champion being
physically present in the meeting
Note2: remember http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4677#section-5.2

-keep discussing in the mailing list and if we won't reach a consensus
Joe and I will decide what to do (e.g. if we need an hum/straw poll etc.)

cheers
/Sal
