This makes sense, if we can do it in parallel to making progress on the 
opstate discussions.  In particular, I think that IETF needs to very 
quickly resolve any open issues that are preventing WGs from publishing 
standard YANG models (e.g. the config/state split). Delaying this risks 
making the IETF YANG models some what obsolete (at least in some parts 
of the market) before they are published.

Not necessarily directly related, but my understanding is that the way 
that some of the OpenConfig operators are intending to configure and 
manage networks is quite different from how networks have been 
historically managed.  I think that writing up this architecture as an 
Information draft would likely benefit individuals who are trying to 
understand the proposed changes to NETCONF/YANG and what those changes 
are trying to achieve.
