I already said the lo interface does not perform DAD nor any ND operations. If the lo interface does not perform DAD nor any ND address resolution, nor issue any redirects, why is the interface performing NUD? Please discuss such issues in the 6man mailer.

This is my last email on the subject. Any further discussion should be moved to the 6man WG in the IETF, not v6ops, since protocol changes to RFC4862 are being discussed - I agree with Jinmei's reply to this thread. For example, the router is provisioned for the tftpv6 client app to use the lo interface for source IPv6 address. The outbound interface is eth0. When the tftpv6 client sends a req packet out eth0, if the destination of the packet is an incomplete nor non-existent entry in the neighbor cache, the outbound interface issues a ND address resolution. I cleared the neighbor cache on my router and then issued a ping to a northbound node and used the source of the ping as the lo interface.

routeri#sh ipv6 int br lo0
Loopback0              [up/up]
    FE80::C614:3CFF:FE17:1C00
    2004::1
routeri#clear ipv6 neigh
routeri#
router#ping 2001:db8:3800:800:250:56FF:FEB2:F11D source lo0
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 2001:db8:3800:800:250:56FF:FEB2:F11D, timeout is 2 seconds:
