I would be quite interested to see this research.   Can you point me to some?

When you say " ntp, pee cees running unix or linux do not have millisecond accuracy on stamping packets"   do you mean that linux cannot timestamp a packet at microsecond level or that linux servers cannot synchronize to NTP at some level of milliseconds or something else entirely?

BTW, I remember at least one side conversation when I was at SharkFest (the WireShark conference) in June about the need for nano-second accuracy in WireShark packet captures.   Presumably, this is for non-Linux based systems.
